New Poll

Hey all

You are all reading this because you are fans of Murdoch Mysteries. Well, we all owe our thanks to the lady who created Detective William H Murdoch, Ms Maureen Jennings.

Having met Maureen a couple of times, I can honestly say that she is one of the nicest people that I've ever had the privilege to meet and it greatly talented. So, this poll is dedicated to her and the 7 Murdoch novels and 1 novella she has written related to Murdoch.

What is your favourite Murdoch book??? Answer on the poll at the foot of the blog

Thanks all

Last weeks poll result and new poll

Well.....what can I say......

I think last weeks poll was the definition of a slam dunk with FBI Special Agent Jack Hudson winning with a massive 78% of the vote.

I think that maybe this is because most UK readers of my blog haven't seen Yannick in much else other than Murdoch or Sue Thomas, but nevertheless, still a great result and the poll proved to be the most popular so far with 28 of you voting so a big thank you from me.

A new poll will be up later today and I hope that it gets the same response as the others.

A huge thank you from me for reading and commenting and I hope you will all continue to do so

Kommando

Murdoch and the gang are called to the scene of a grisly murder in the Don Valley, after a young man is found savagely beaten to death. The victim is Tom Meeks, a cadet at Fort York, who was on a rigorous training course that teaches guerrilla tactics. When another body is found with a ripped face to try and avoid identification, Murdoch investigates the military unit further and finds out some very disturbing underhand medical practices that the soldiers are unaware of.

Here's an interesting little tidbit....

It seems that Yannick keeps losing his women to the same man....

Julia went off for a short time with Reginald Poundsett whilst Sue went off with David Palmer....both characters were played by the actor Jeffrey Douglas.

Apologies if some of you knew this already, but I thought it was quite funny that the guy who "stole" Jack's girl in STFBE also stole Williams's girl in Murdoch Mysteries.

Yannick guests on "The Listener"

A little birdie has mentioned that Mr Bisson has a guest role in season two of The Listener, also produced by Shaftesbury, who produce Murdoch.

The link below is to a video that goes behind the scenes of the making of season 2...keep an eye out for a guy in a blue sweater with Lauren Lee Smith and a guy with a baby.

Season 4 - Episode 1 - Original UK air date 15 February 2011

Tattered and Torn

Whilst trying to come to terms with the loss of Julia, a strange case crosses Murdoch's desk; body parts – a foot, a hand and a headless torso - have surfaced along the Don River. Ogden’s replacement, Dr. Llewllyn Francis, insists the body parts are from one murder victim. But Murdoch has his doubts and contacts Ogden. Initially reluctant, Julia can’t help but be intrigued by the case. Murdoch secretly ships her the evidence and Ogden’s examination reveals they are dealing with three different victims but likely one killer.

13 February 2011

New Poll....

With 50% of the vote, Julia Ogden is the woman that those of you that voted wanted to see William settle down with.  Anna Fulford came in second with 30% and Sally Pendrick and Sarah Pensel each had 10%. Poor old Enid got no votes.

Here is the next poll....we all love William Murdoch, but which of Yannick's other alter egos is your favourite?

Enter the poll at the foot of the page and  have fun :)

Exclusive Season 4 Premiere Screening

Hey everyone

As some of you may know, I was one of the lucky 25 people who won tickets to the exclusive season 4 premiere of the Murdoch Mysteries in London, UK.

The screening included a champagne reception, the first ever screening of the season 4 premiere "Tattered and Torn" followed by a Q&A session and meet and greet with Tom Craig, aka Inspector Thomas Brackenreid.

My guest and I arrived at the exclusive Soho Hotel in the heart of London's Leicester Square shortly before 6:45pm and there were already people waiting to be shown into the screening room. Right on 7pm, the doors opened and we were shown in and were handed either a champagne, water, coke or orange juice.

Everyone took their seats and there was a lot of chatter about a "special surprise" that was going to happen before the screening started. There was a lot of speculation about what this was and I heard comments like  "maybe Yannick is here too" or "Maureen is from the UK, maybe she has come here too."

As everyone speculated, I heard a familiar voice and turned to see Mr Thomas Craig sitting a few feet behind me with his agent. He looks so different out of character and, dressed in jeans and a casual blue top, without his moustache and sideburns, he looks a lot younger than his 48 years.

When everyone had arrived, the doors were closed and the head of the Alibi channel welcomed us all to the screening and told us what we could expect for the evening ahead. Then is came to the moment we had been speculating about since we'd arrived, the special surprise.

After the satellite link with Yannick had finished, there were smiles on everyones faces in anticiaption of the man himself possibly being in London the same time next year. I, for one will definitely be entering just in case he is.

Then came the screening and, despite a small technical hitch at the beginning, it was 45 minutes of brilliance. We had been warned beforehand that season 4 contained darker storylines and this one was no exception. Featuring argueably one of the biggest guest stars Murdoch Mysteries has had since it began in 2008, it was a fantastic episode, with a brilliant twist that drew some gasps from the captivated audience.

When the episode had finished, applause went up from everyone and we were then introduced to Tom Craig who drew an even bigger round of applause.  Questions flew at him thick and fast and he willingly answered all of them as honestly as possible. Only one question made him hesitate and that was whether there would be a season 5. Whilst he wouldn't commit to anything, his comments did leave us all hopeful that the show will continue for at least another year after season 4.

After all of the questions were done, we were all thanked for our attendance and excused. I took my chance and approached Tom and, to my surprise, he remembered me from my visit to Toronto and the Murdoch Mysteries set in November 2010. After a brief conversation about how I'd enjoyed the premiere and how he was enjoying being back in the UK, he accepted my request for a photograph. Tom is just as lovely as I remembered and it was great meeting him again.

All in all, I had a fantastic evening in the company of some great and talented people. It Alibi run the same competition next year, I will definitely be entering and, if you are in the UK, I would encourage you all to do othe same. It was a magical night and one that I will never forget.

Official Season 4 Press Release from UKTV

Thank again to the wonderful guys and gals at UKTV for sending me this official press release for the new season:

Murdoch Mysteries returns to our screens for series 4!

Tuesdays at 9pm (from Tuesday 15th February) on Alibi (Sky 132, Virgin 130)
Based on British-born Canadian author Maureen Jennings’s popular Detective Murdoch series of mystery novels and set in late 1890s Toronto, Murdoch Mysteries is back for a new and exclusive fourth series, once again exploring the intriguing world of Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), who uses radical techniques for the time to solve some of the city's most gruesome murders.

Murdoch’s small circle of confidantes are pathologist Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy), a staunch ally who shares the detective’s fascination with forensic science, and Constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris), Murdoch’s eager but sometimes naïve right-hand man. Although his unconventional approach breeds scepticism and reluctant support from his boss, Inspector Brackenreid (Coronation Street star Thomas Craig), Murdoch is often the only one that can crack the case.

The fourth season will throw some difficult challenges Detective Murdoch’s way. To start, pathologist Dr. Julia Ogden, who departed for a new job at the Children's’ Hospital of Buffalo at the end of season three, may have found a compelling reason to stay in Buffalo.

Her replacement, brought in from London's Scotland Yard – the ill tempered Dr. Llewllyn Francis (Luther star Paul Rhys) – is on course to frequently clash with our even-tempered hero.

In other episodes, under tragic circumstances, an old flame from Bristol, Anna Fulford (Celebrity Masterchef winner and British actress Lisa Faulkner) will return to pay Murdoch a visit; Murdoch's investigations bring him to a wealthy household when the household master is found face down in his morning porridge, British actor, Simon Williams (Upstairs, Downstairs), plays a butler and a member of the poor downstairs staff; Murdoch's like-minded predecessor, Detective Malcolm Lamb (Alias star Victor Garber), returns to the station giving evidence in a brutal murder, as well as some kind words of reassurance to Murdoch, pointing him in the direction of the shocking truth; and in the season finale a wedding will take place…but who will be walking down the aisle?
Mixing real-life history, stunning period detail, intriguing cases and emotional wallop, Murdoch Mysteries continues to push the boundaries of crime television.

Pics from Season 4

Hey all

The exclusive UK screening of the first episode of the new season is Thursday night at the Soho Hotel in London. I would like to say a big congratulations to those who won the tickets to the screening which also includes the chance to meet Tom Craig with a Q&A session with the man himself after the episode has aired.

As someone who has met Tom, I can honestly say that he is a really great guy and if anyone here gets to meet him them I'm sure you will have a great time.

Below are some of the pictures that Alibi have posted on their website for the new series, my particular favourite being the last one with Murdoch as the Mad Hatter, Julia as Alice and Ruby as the White Rabbit as they all attend an Alice in Wonderland themed party.

Also, keep an eye out for the only member of the Bisson family who hasn't yet made an appearance in the series, but rectifies that in season 4:

London Baby!!! MM Update soon :)

Hey everyone

I'm sooooooooo sorry that there hasnt been an update for several days. It's been a manic weekend spent down in London for my best friends hen/bachelorette party so there was no time for anything else. Hundreds of pics were taken, some of which are below:

Its 2 weeks today that season 4 of Murdoch Mysteries begins in the UK at 9pm on Alibi. I for one can't wait to see how they show deals with Julia leaving at the end of the last season and how her absence affects our hero.

A new poll and quiz question will be up tomorrow but until then, enjoy some of my pics from London.
